Description
Otherworldly in appearance, this multicolored fungus is a relatively recent discovery among Aversia and it’s denizens.
This fungus is entirely unique in appearance, the surface of it is rough and coarse, clearly a protective coating for what lies beneath it that’s equal to a shell and their outer shell generally matches the color of the crystal it’s latched to. The cap of the fungus is bulbous and thick, about a foot in circumference, with a three to four foot stalk when fully grown. Beneath of the cap of the mushroom, the gills of the cap have a unique function. They filter residual magical energy in the area, turning it into energy to fuel the mushroom’s growth until they fully mature.
Location
Found in the deepest parts of the deep-runs, this fungus is most commonly found growing on the top of Deep Crystals structures found in the deep-runs close to leylines,
Development
These plants grow when a leyline is within several hundred meters, they grow during all times of the year until they reach their full size. Once they mature, a small slit opens at the top of the cap, and spores travel from deep within the stalk to be violently propelled out through the cap. This action is so violent, that the fungus spends most of the year repairing the internal damage to the cap and stalk, so that they can redo the ceremony again the next year.
Material Properties
- Within the cap of the Fungus, a small black sack is stored and connected to the gills. This can be removed and fashioned to turn liquid mana into magical energy to fuel Magitech Items.
