Geography

Ayinar is a rather tropical and singular large continent. The coast is lined with palm trees, and the inland areas are covered in dunes, and sparsely lakes of water, shrouding oasis of land. Large bronze and brass pipes are stretched throughout the land, piping large amounts of liquid mana. Magic is very strong throughout the continent, which seems to almost emanate the substance. The tribal peoples of the land use these to try and raid and cut off supply to the mainland. Mesas and small peaks are able to strike up from the sands, though the majority of the isle is largely difficult to habitat.

The capital, Ghamarez is the most notable attraction of the continent. This large city spans quite a large area of it, beginning on the coast. The largest points here are the pyramids which line a large flood plain nearby the city. These pyramids have a hollow center, where leylines strike up and move endlessly up towards the sky and from the earth. Magic is constantly extending from these, and each one marks where a Pharaoh has been buried. Each contains an inside of wealth and riches, walls marked with the tales of their life and notable events to give them good reach into the afterlife. Another notable feature of the city is its large library. The keepers of this restrict many areas of this library, and the area is patrolled very tightly. Few are ever allowed to to see some of the areas inside, let alone all of them.

Government

The primary government is the Kingdom, which claims most of the continent as their own. Their leader, the Pharaoh, Kutal, is rather old, being the age of Forty-Six. The Pharaoh is widely respected however, having a high magical aptitude which has been displayed in public events on multiple occasions. The Pharaoh's word is law, and people within the Kingdom live a surprisingly open and accepting lifestyle. There is however little upward social movement save for in scarce cases.

The Pharaoh is surrounded by key roles such as Master Architect, and a Master Scholar. These people advise the Pharaoh on matters of state and business, trying to keep the Kingdom running against the foreign rule of those who would oppose it. Slavery, though used as an ancient form of rulership for the Pharaoh, was outlawed by Asgnus as one of his first acts of rule. Though re-instituted and later banned once more during the rule of Pharaoh Kutal, people are beginning to learn to live without them.

Culture

Knowledge in these lands is revered above all, and the Pharaoh is seen as the living aspect of Vikret. The continent does respect the entire pantheon however, though a severe emphasis is placed on Vassas and Vikret. The people on the outskirts follow these same gods, though they take on a more spiritual way, with Bahari becoming their patron so water might fall in a blessed way to give drink for their parched lips.

Common Legends and Rumors

  • It is said that there is none more profound with the arts of the arcane. The Pharaoh of the land is seen as a god in his own right, and is by far the most magically blessed family, or this is the aura they put off. Some rumor they hold no magical abilities at all, or it depends man to man.
  • The library of Ghamarez is said to be the largest library of arcane knowledge in the known world.
  • Rumor has it that a leader outside the capitol of large orc clans has begun to conquer the tribes of other races, and is beginning to unite them against the crown.

Trading and Travel

  • Currency: The currency of Ayinar is surprisingly backwater. Most people trade in jewelry, or even knowledge, rather than having a specific mint. Due to the fall of the regency, ancient coins of mint are hardly worth much to most.
  • Trading Status: Closed.
  • Travel Status: Open and Welcoming.
