Description

A spiny flower which has erupted from the ground, its pale green-gray serrated leaves at its base conceal the parallel running roots into the ground. Rail Root is perhaps most known for its interesting root system, which will always develop as two sprouts which will run directly parallel into the ground. From these parallel roots, the rest of the root system will develop. The stem of the vile flower is covered in thorns and curling spines, ending in a dark, red, closed off flower which curls in its tapered end. A putrid black liquid will drip from the end of the flower, and kill all life upon the ground it drips.

Development

The generation of Rail Root flowers is undiscovered, as they seem to sprawl from the darkness of the grounds itself. Over the course of [1 OOC month], previously fertile ground may become poisoned and killed by fully developed Rail Roots.

Material Properties

• The serrated edges of the leaves are as durable as iron, and will leave wounds that will not naturally close. Cuts made by Rail Root leaves are subject to rapid blood loss, and cannot seal on their own due to tiny shards of itself preventing it from scabbing. Surgery is the only conventional method to stich it shut.
  • Other forms of healing such as alchemical and supernatural still work, and destroy the tiny particles.
    • Rail Root leaves are short, only befitting for the length of a dagger.

Alchemical Properties

• The closed flower mouth at the top of the Rail Root will leak an ichor which may alchemically refined into a necrotic toxin.
