Description
The flowers are found brightly along the side of rivers, growing in places with rich soil. The flowers tend to grow within large patches, their green underbrush is often quite dense and thick, and quite hard to traverse. The flowers themselves are some of the most arguably beautiful in all of Aversia. The center of these flowers would start a pure white, before fading into yellow, orange, and then red. The rim of the flowers would be lined with a bio-luminescent coloration of orange and yellow which seem to flicker like fire when in the dark. The flowers themselves are shaped similar to that of a wide-petaled lily, and grow to have petals of about 6 inches in length, and two at their largest out cropping. The petals make a semi-elliptical shape, having a point at the end, and a much wider part near the base to attach it to the flower itself.
The base and stem of the plant are both a bright green which contrast the flaming flower above. the stems would sprout straight from the ground, where roots would remain in a tangle below, growing quite close to the surface in their entanglement. The flowers would form pods near the center of the floral arrangement, which both fall out to bloom from the wind, or when the flower itself dies. These blood-red seed pods will find themselves in the loose dirt to shallowly spread their roots. These seeds would be about the size of a apricot core. The pods may also be harvested beforehand, with no repercussion. The plants may also be uprooted, but they must be placed in fertile soil once more, else they will rot. When the plant begins to die, no longer will the rim of the flower glow, but rather it will create a paler and paler light, before all together becoming black.
Location
The Riverside Wildfire would grow alongside rivers in temperate to warmer climates, being found very close to rivers. The plant will not grow in sands, but rather the marshier beach sides where the river sweeps by and deposits its nutrients.
Development
The flowers would spark into their growth, and the flame would fan out just as quickly, their whole life cycle would be about two months. The flowers will begin their growth as a pod where they will emerge from the ground, eventually developing small petals which opened and up and become full sized. The flower is noted to be vibrant throughout its life until the end, where it begins to wither into colors of black and brown, just as ashes would come from a fire.
Material Properties
- The plant itself is bio-luminescent at the ridges of the flower, glowing a vibrant orangish-yellow at night, and a faint color when wilting.
- Should the seed pods be consumed, it could be noted that they feature a spicy flavor.
Alchemical Properties
- The seed pod's nectar may be harvested, and should this oil be extracted, it would be noted for its high flammability, but near-instant burn rate.
