Description
The Mechanized Flytrap is certainly no normal plant; instead, the creation is a construct of Dwarven engineering posing as one, which is undetectable to the average eye. Their stems are brown and have a metallic sheen, and the trap is the same way. The construct is largely immobile, and though it may function like a Venus flytrap, it instead targets those would dare use magic in its vicinity.
Such a plant is said to have been created by a dwarf long ago in the Dwarf Run, who was highly noted for his knowledge and skill in architecture and engineering. However, as adventurers and rogue dwarves came through to inspect his shop and wares, they used magic to analyze the properties of his creations, which revealed the precise instructions to replicate his creations. To combat this, the dwarf created a subtle and hidden ward to magic, which would be the Mechanized Flytrap.
Location
The trap is found in the Dwarf Run and some of its surrounding systems; however, with the eventual fall of it, the plant may rarely be found scattered across Aversia.
Development
There are few people who know how the Mechanized Flytrap can be constructed; it acts just as a plant, rooting itself to the dark stone of the Dwarf Run and Deep Run, but must have been initially constructed by one knowledgeable enough. Theoretically, it's possible for one to learn, but the master must be found or the plant be created through years of trial-and-error.
Mechanics
- If magic is used within a two meter radius of the construct, a live flytrap can swiftly lash out up to five meters away and immobilize part of the victim's limb.
- The flytrap stops magic from working in a two meter radius, and the trap subtly shifts when actively preventing it.
