- The Elven Kind -

<

The elves were not created by the Pantheon directly, but were instead the result of years evolution after the corruption of the beings they once were.

Made from the hands of Arvora herself, four fey were created and given great power, each of them meant to become the ruler of one part of the feywilds. Each court was split up by season, lead by one of the four archfey. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Fey were created to fill out these courts, each of them possessing a great amount of magical capabilities since the day they were created. With their magic and great knowledge of all things flora and fauna they created a thriving community, with each court having its own part to play.

Serenity filled the feywilds until the creation of the god of death, Morto. This started a chain of events throughout every realm, including the Feywilds. One day when someone who was injured did not recover, the first death within the feywilds took place, and the serenity devolved into pure chaos. Eventually, the fey, angry and violent marched to the great tree, and demanded the Ascended answer for what has happened. All that remained was a white haired winter fey, once known as Thalia.

The blame was placed solely on her, as she was the only person to choose to stay and defend the goddesses tree. At the time, Thalia believed that Arvora couldn't have made a mistake, and begged the goddess to protect her and explain to the people they were not at fault for this calamity. While the others fled from behind her, she held onto her hope and waited, which was her fatal mistake. The others, enraged and believing the ascended guilty for running, located her, and in a fit of pure anger and fear, burned her alive, believing that this would cleanse the world of the mistake that was made before. Because of the events that occurred during that confrontation, we now know her by the name of Foli, the goddess of chaos.

Instead of coming to safe the only devout that stayed behind, Arvora had turned her back towards the fey in her endless grief and pain from having her shadow turned into the being known as death. Thalia felt the purest rage flowing through her body as the pyre started to catch fire, causing the scorned woman to break emotionally, as every negative feeling surrounding her and throughout the wilds themselves absorbed into her form, and she ascended into a Goddess. With great rage, and a plan to bring suffering and eternal punishment to those that had wronged her, she spread a vile corruption throughout the Feywilds. She started at the edges of the courts as she watched from above, as the corruption washed over and disfigured anyone and everyone within the wilds that was a Fey. Their bodies contorted, their hair and skin colors changed, and their wings burned off into dust. The first elves were born.

The only ones being able to save themselves were those with in the world tree of Janziyo. The archfey had long since retreated from their homes and stood together to protect themselves and anyone who was not corrupted. Eventually, they were able to tame the wildfires and corrupting creatures as Foli’s wrath simmered down, and she left the realm for good.

After the goddess disappeared, there was a calm, and those affected felt like a shell of their former selves. Using the last bit of their magical abilities, they opened a path into the veil, with many leaving the feywilds in hopes to start a better life somewhere else away from the horrible memories and pain that had transpired. All courts had been affected in a different cruel way, now looking much different from one another...

The exiled spring courtiers retreated into the vast forests of the mortal realm, and they now found themselves not being able to let go of their ties towards the beautiful flora they had lived in before. They evolved, living within the trees and surviving their best, to eventually became known as Forest elves.

The exiled summer courtiers, being used to the sun and the shining life of the plains stuck together to create large cities and growing economies, hoping to turn their losses into something new and equally as great in civilization. These would eventually become known as the High elves.

The exiled autumn courtiers fled into the caves and tunnels of the world, not wanting to be seen or heard from again after the corruption had affected them and their kind. They felt disgraced and longed for the warmth their old life had brought them. Over the years they grew accustomed to their new lives, and named themselves the Dark elves.

Lastly, the exiled winter courtiers moved into the snow covered tundra, and chose to live a nomadic life from that point forwards. They eventually chose to never leave the cold areas, as the generations had become so used to them. They eventually become known as the Snow elves.

These events were set in motion so many years ago, only the elder elves rarely recall it unless told this information. The only fey thing they still hold is the pointed ears and more agile frames their great ancestors had. Only the Archfey and the gods involved know the real truth of what occurred that sept.
