Physical Changes

The Aedynian are knights clad in full plate, a soul binding each individual piece towards the center of its being as if by a gravitational force. Usually boasting a main weapon and side arm, a rondel or some form of other weaponry, these knights stand firm wherever they may be. Their voices ring out and echo within the metallic frame of their helm, ranging anywhere from the sweetest of feminine voices to the harshest of masculine ones. They tend to have specific heraldry on their tabards to showcase where they originated from, though for the most part they are unrecognizable as to who they were in life aside from the fact that their voice is the same if not similar.

Mental Changes

None.

Effects

Those who become an Aedynian lose their human body and therefore all of the benefits they had with it. They cannot feel in the same way regular people do as they are suits of knight armor, though they still feel pain as normal people do if hit against their armor, if only to a lesser degree.

Origins of Trait

These beings are considered cursed by some, as their very existence is based on being a mere suit of armor, forever haunted by the soul of its knight, long since gone. While most may think of them as undead, they don’t classify as such. The first Aedynian was a knight of Veltes, lost in his holy temple and brought back by some higher power watching over him. He was tasked to defend the rest of his order to his end, to which he did justly until his armor was destroyed and his soul went back to the world to the afterlife.

Acquisition

Aedynian’s are given this second chance at life by higher beings unknown to the world, tasked with defending their previous goal in life. More often than not, these people are holy knights part of now lost orders. The intricacies of their creation is unknown, but in truth they are the most similar to that of heroic spirits in nature. Heroic knights of long lost orders bound to their armor in order to continue their quest, some having even nigh impossible goals for them to go through. This can explain their docile and noble nature in part. This resurrection by higher powers is what separates them from that of revenants or heroic spirits, cementing the very fact that they are not cursed, nor are they profane, nor brought back by any sort of mortal being’s will.

Mechanics

  • Able to bend metal with their very hands, the Aedynian can repair and break metal at will if they can get their gauntleted hands on it. This metal needs to be touched by the Aedynian and can be their own or other pieces of metal.
  • Should a hole be poked in their armor, their soul will start to seep from the inside of their bodies and into the world. It takes a variety of turns for their soul to escape this way, depending on how big the hole is.
  • The soul of an Aedynian glows a faint white hue if seen from behind the armor. This soul fills the entirety of the armor, which is a husk. They need their soul fully inside the armor in order to live.
    • Aedynian have the ability to manipulate their own soul to bring it back inside its body, but other than that cannot manipulate souls without a lit spark.
  • Aedynian are capable of having any aurum type be it a spark, divinity or otherwise.
  • When being revived by the ascended or otherwise, an Aedynian must either be put back into the suit of armor that is capable of holding them, or into their previous mortal body they had right before dying and being made into an Aedynian, be this body the same or remade for them.
  • Intelligent, noble and generally docile.
  • The Aedynian don't keep their former race's traits.
