Those Who Watched

History

Physical Description

Elves are most commonly tall in conception. Being mostly the wealthy in society, this race tends to seclude itself from others, providing longer life with their pompous nature. In this way, they are taller, more likely to be better fed, as well as dressed in extravagant garb. Yet throughout their years, they have learned balance, remaining relatively thin and strong for their structures. Elves are regarded as one of the most beautiful race among those who traverse the realm, and as such they are held within high regard. In this way, they sacrifice for their strength, being outmatched by humans more often than not.

The garb of the High Elf tends to be fairly simple. Long and flowing are two words which describe most of their appearance. High Elves are renowned for holding self-confidence with their bodies, and thus are most notably seen wearing that which they chose, rather than that which is accustomed. This can bring them to blows at times with the customs of others, but they seem to mind not. Of course, not all High Elves can be this fortunate, and in the case of the common high elf, they are seen in similar attire to humans which roam the lands they are residing in, often choosing to blend in to both societies.

Culture

High Elven society is very loose in comparison to the rest of the Elven races. Few actual cultures of High Elves and their kind alone endure, rather, they find their place among the other societies of the world, easily intermixing and mingling with the other mortal races wherever they may. It is a common affair for them to be found in every portion of society, with no true culture uniting they and their kind together any longer. In fact, aside from some racial prejudice against those who are shorter than them, it is often that a High Elf is raised just as any human is. The one true cultural difference that remains between them and humanity is their greater emphasis on trust. A High Elf will almost always be raised to value companionship more than all else.

The Elven tongue is spoken one with an elegant demure, spoken in a smooth transition of words. It isn't uncommon that an Elf will learn Common, as it is known to be the second taught tongue for the diverse race. Most ancient traditions of the High Elves have been forgotten, discarded almost entirely after countless years of disuse. As such, no real traditions bind together the race aside from those that they assume from other cultures as a whole, aside from the normal Aversian holidays, it is normal for High Elves to spend a single day after the end of every single cycle in solemn meditation, to reflect upon the deeds they've done and how they've changed over time.

A High Elf has no true dietary restraints, rather they will only discriminate for or against different meals based on their upbringing and the world around them. It is common practice for a large portion of their kind to partially abstain from meat except as a rare celebration, but it is not unheard of for other diets to commonly be seen among them.

With no explicit settlements of their own, or any homelands devoted to their kind, the High Elves often live in whatever lands they find themselves born within. It is not uncommon for them to find their way to lasting positions of power and authority due to their comparatively long lifespans, but that is more coincidence than anything else. Despite that, however, they generally fall in line with the other common races of the land.

The High Elves do not follow any standardized dogma in their worship. Often, they merely inherit the faith of their parents. Most tend to be worshipers of the Pantheon as a whole, but it is just as equally common for a High Elf to dedicate themselves to the faith of a specific god among the Pantheon's ranks. The gods most prominent in their worship however tend to be Vikret and Vassas though these are only within certain sects of Elven society.

Mechanics

  • Lifespan: About 400 years on average.
  • High Elves are naturally weaker than Humans due to their brittle, lighter bones.
  • With their large eyes and elongated ears, they have a greater perception than most other races.
  • A High Elf is capable of entering a racial trance as part of their natural skill at meditation. In this dream-like state, they are able to perfectly maintain their composure, halving the sensation they'd normally receive from their body. In this trance, high elves can heal their wounds in an accelerated rate of one stage every three emotes, but requires all of their concentration. This can be casted in battle at the back lines away from combat. Fatal wounds will still be fatal.
  • The only time a High Elf can enter this state is when they are not being attacked, and they are forcefully shunted back into reality whenever their blood is drawn by a hostile force. When forcefully evicted from this state, the repressed emotion comes back threefold, utterly stunning the elf for five emotes.
