Those Who Mocked
History
Physical Description
At home amidst the endless green awnings of leaves that comprise Aversia's woodlands, the Wood Elves are a twisted mockery of their original fey origins. Maintaining their predecessor's affinity for the world's wildlife, they are instead marred by the same primal desires of the land's fauna. Although not the tallest of the Elven brethren, Wood Elves stand above the common humanity most commonly. Their hair takes on the natural hues of their surroundings, coloring themselves from forest greens to browns to autumn reds and blacks. On occasion, their green and brown hair may be found within a blend. They share the same eyes as the Plant humanoids, only having shades of green and brown tint their iris'. To camouflage themselves with the home of nature, a Wood Elf will be slimmer than most, having small shoulders and hips that gives them a branch-like appearance among the thicket and brush of the trees. It is not uncommon for a Wood Elf to have tattoos in a simple vine pattern along their; arms, legs, and face. Though not meant for camouflage, this primitive look is one sought out for in fashion. The hunters of the forests will wear small trophies of their hunt, never full fur but perhaps the talons or feathers instead. Males who wear small trophies visibly shown are often seen as the proud leaders of the tribes, however this is just mere misconception of the Forest kind.
The garb of a forest elf, unlike their High Elven cousins, tends to be practical at its root. Their garb is to both protect them from the elements of the jungles and deserts they live within, as well as promote their mobility within each. Often made of breathable fabrics, or even upon occasion crafted from Leafthin, this race of elves tend to dress in clothes fashioned from their surroundings, rather than extravagance.

Culture
Generally, Wood Elves live in loose conglomerates on the fringes of society, ruled not by those of noble birth or those elected by majority vote, but rather by those strong enough to take the position and hold it in their grasp. Often loosely organized and primitive, their social structure is ruled by frequent change. Few roving tribes of Wood Elves will ever encounter each other, always traveling down paths laid by their ancestors before them in endless cycles. The only time they ever meet in large gathering is during the annual Conclave every Quadrianno.
The same Elven tongue is spoken in a less formal tone than the High Elven 'kin', forest Elves are often seen to firstly adopt an accent which misses off a few consonants. However, if an Elf was born away from such a society and accent, they may not have it. As the other Elves, they may know Common as their second language.
It is the norm for Wood Elves to gradually tattoo themselves as they age with green ink in the imitation of the vines of the forest that they dwell in. The inks they use in the process have the same rough recipe from tribe to tribe, but the shade of green it produces varies upon the region and the local ingredients. Serving both as a way of showing where their homeland is and how they've traveled across the course of their lives, the vines of a Wood Elf can tell both the story of their life and their tribe, subtle changes and shifts among its people visible in the ways the tattoos' arcs curve and eddy. They also serve as an indicator of age and social status. A Wood Elf only receives vines around their eyes -signifying adulthood and the capacity to function within society- when they down a beast easily capable of killing them.
Every Mense it is the norm for the most noted members of every Wood Elf tribe to depart their home and gather in their forested surroundings to both celebrate and discuss the affairs of their kin as a whole. Being chosen to embark on the journey to the Conclave's meet is a high honor, but it is not often a pleasant meeting. Held deep within the dark depths of the forest, it is normal for only half of those who went to return back to their tribe, the rest having either died or vanished mysteriously.
Few Wood Elves actually bother to farm, even subsistence farming is often ignored. Rather, they feast off the bounty of the land, often only moving when they've exhausted an area's resources to the point that it is necessary for them to move on. Thus, most of their diet consists primarily of what they hunt and forage. Greatly preferring the taste of meat, many subsist entirely on meat alone, however it is common for them to supplement their carnivorous appetite with foraged fruits and berries.
Wood Elves often live in singular tribes, roaming about the breadth of a single forest and only rarely crossing into another. Moving and packing up their cities as seasons change to ever follow Arvora's bounty, they always remain on the move. It is not uncommon for travelers to come across temporarily abandoned cities among the woods, departed for another only a few weeks prior.
The Wood Elves chiefly worship Arvora, who promotes not only their hunt, but for the cycle of life. In this way, it is not uncommon for Morto's worship to be found alongside the worship of the goddess of life.
Mechanics
- Lifespan: 350 years old on average.
- Forest Elves have an unnaturally excellent perception when they are within the woodlands, though seem to lack such elsewhere.
- Forest Elves are immune to the effects of venom derived from animals in their entirety.
- As savage as the creatures they favor hunting, Wood Elves possess an innate empathic connection with the fauna of the land. This allows them to immediately distinguish the intentions of any animal, but also allows any animal to determine their intent. In addition to this, they can accurately predict the next action of an untampered wild animal or monster of any kind once every 4 OOC hours.
