Treants were once divine creatures of intelligent plants dedicated to the preservation Aversia's forests. It is most often believed that the Tree of Life, Arvora created the Treants to serve as the noble keepers of her sacred woodlands. Often keeping to the dense jungles, woods, and forests of the land. Ancient records tell of legions of these creations wandering the forests, however that was long ago, now, the Treants are naught but legend. It is uncertain if the creatures truly ever existed, though many tales are told about the Treants, which include the specifications below.

The size and shape of an adult Treant very closely resembled the tree they strive to protect. Young Treants closely resembled tree saplings, their branches flexible and rubbery, and their skin was often a green hue similar to the Sinnehliv, though still comparably different due to their root-like feet, wider build, and height.

As the Treant aged his outermost layer of bark became harder and more resilient, but at the same time brittle. This change greatly decreased their speed of movement and overall flexibility. It is also in adulthood that a Treant began to change throughout the seasons, losing its leaves in the fall and regaining them in the spring. Additionally, adult Treants began to collect other plant life at this time, allowing mushrooms to grow in their chests and across their back, as vines and ferns made a home of their legs and arms. The growth of flora within and upon a Treant was once also pruned by the creature to resemble hair, beards, and even clothing.

All Treants possessed two arms and two legs, though the latter were akin to the base of tree trunks. A Treant's face was said to resemble that of an aged human man, the nose and brow knotted and stern.

Distribution

Treants are relatively allusive. Due to their vast separation and rarity of joining in coverts, freely sighting one whilst travelling in a forest is slim to none. Finding one of these tree-like, animalistic species requires a thorough amount of searching. These are are considered to be Legendary in rarity.

Habitat

Treants, for the most part, wander in solitary, traveling mysteriously among forests. More specifically, in the thickets of trees they parallel with the most in appearance.

Diet

Treants to not depend on physical forms of food in order to sustain themselves; instead, much like the plants they resemble, rely on photosynthesis. Without a proper amount of sunlight, Treants would begin to weaken and wilt just as regular foliage would experience.

Relations

Treants were once said to be found gathering around the winter and summer equinoxes to celebrate with song.

As for their way of life, it was the Treant's sole ambition to see to the preservation of the land's forests. They were said to even go about, replanting trees that have been cut down or even sabotaging the equipment used in cutting down trees.

It is said, most Treants tend to walk as much as possible, for their movement may cease otherwise.

Being the children of the Tree of Life, Treants are naturally partial to Arvora. Treants often find that their time is better spent working for the forest. In times of celebration, songs of praise are usually sung about Arvora.

Mechanics

  • Treants, if completely still, can blend in perfectly with trees similar to them.
  • Treants are very vulnerable to fire and axes, and like the Sinnehliv, have a phobia of the former.
  • Treants, despite their size, make terrible combatants.
  • Also like the Sinnehliv, Treants can regrow limbs, photosynthesize, and also require large sums of water but can access great amounts by rooting into the ground. This makes them immobile while drinking, but allows for a great volume to be obtained.
  • Treants often carry hundreds of species of plants on them by the time they reach adulthood, even woodland fauna might make its home in a Treant's hollow chest.

Material Properties

  • Treants hold similar properties to the tree they relate to, yet actually obtaining the wood from them comes with the problem of having to painfully collect it from the species. However, one may gather what plants they desire that thrive on the mobile tree.

Alchemical Properties

  • Undiscovered; Likely None
