The Naga are a serpentine race, akin to their Syrien descendants but with the tails of snakes rather than fish. They appear more reptilian in nature, covered in sharp spines, scales, webbing, and horns. From head to tail, they can reach up to 12 feet long and weigh up to 350 pounds. Their faces hold snouts similar to a snake, and their eyes have two layers of eyelids, one as normal and another that closes perpendicular, and is clear. These allow them to see perfectly underwater without getting water in their eyes, which are highly sensitive to touch. Scale color can vary between greens, blues, reds, browns, and any blend of these. Much like the Syrien however, they carry both gills and lungs, allowing them to live on both land and water freely.

Originally a myth, there have been recent discoveries that prove the correlation between Syva-Syrien and Syrien to the Naga. Once they were bountiful, enjoying a Golden age of their empire at its fullest by building massive cities and towers across the worlds oceans, dominating the ecosystem. And then it came. A creeping being that would be the cause of countless centuries of isolation, even to this day. A plague that struck the female population, and rendered most of them sterile and unable to reproduce. Just like that, it collapsed. Countless centuries, crumbling to an invisible enemy, one they couldn't fight back against.

Due to their dwindling numbers, the remaining members of the species made the decision to venture to the surface and seek out the land walking races of Aversia as a last resort to save themselves. Much to their dismay, it was not Naga that was created from this union, but an entirely new species of Syva-Syrien, which would go on to be their proverbial successors along with their descendants the Syrien. Despite that, the plague remained an issue that made them dwindle further, until a human alchemist discovered a cure which allowed them to grow immune to the disease that nearly drove their race to extinction after treatment. Even though they could now reproduce, they still had low enough numbers that they were endangered. Thus, they delved into the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean in order to isolate themselves from all other life, Syrien and Sea-Creatures alike, in order to rebuild their once great civilization, and numbers.

Distribution

Naga are strewn about in small, isolated pockets throughout the world. They often are found in deep lakes and rivers, or more often in the deepest parts of the ocean. Because of their rather small population, they are considered rare.

Habitat

Naga tend to habituate in the ruins of their old civilization in the deep ocean, or even a rebuilt city that they have created. Sometimes they try and create new tribes in deep rivers, or lakes-if they are large enough to support them.

Diet

Omnivores by nature, they can eat things such as seaweed or even fruits, but most often they eat fish or meat that wanders close to their rivers or is within their natural hunting grounds.

Relations

Naga are generally evasive beings unless their territory is entered. Though not naturally hostile, some warlords have the confidence to push their people beyond such attitudes and instead believe that anyone not a Naga within the seas are intruding upon them. The more common occurrences of combat however is normally just outlying skirmishes for hunting grounds with the other sapient sea life.

Mechanics

  • Serpentine forms allow very quick swimming speeds, as well was the ability to slither along land at a walking pace.
  • Strong and cunning, Naga make terrifying ambushers, able to leap up to 8 meters from a standstill, and have the strength relative to a dwarf.
  • Immune to temperature and heat fluctuations, as their scales regulate their temperature naturally.
  • The sharp spines on a Naga's body carries a hallucinogenic venom which affects people once it enters the bloodstream after 5 Posts. This dazes the person, making them feel as if they were physically lagging, and living in slow motion. The effect lasts for 10 Posts.
  • Naga have extremely good eyesight underwater, able to see everything whether its pitch black or blindingly lit up. On land however, they have little night vision.
