The Original Children

Application Only

Although Arvora put extensive amounts of time and care into each and every one of her creations, as is the case with all great artists, one creation in particular would rise up above all the rest as the pinnacle. She named this species the Fey, and they quickly came to mark the peak of Arvora’s creativity and perfection in creating life. The Fey were soon thought of as Arvora’s finest creation, and as a result the name of her realm was dubbed ‘The Fey Wilds’.

At the beginning of their creation, the Fey were pure and good. They were filled with love and compassion for one another, forming families, societies, more complex methods of communication, and better, more fulfilling lifestyles than the other more simple life forms that were also present within the Wilds. The Fey had been made with higher intellectual and magical capabilities than most of Arvora’s other creations, and as a result, they progressed more quickly with their developments and endeavors.

With more complex thoughts and emotions, the Fey longed for a purpose other than simply existing and surviving, as most of Arvora’s other creations were satisfied with doing. For many eons, the Fey lived peacefully, happily, indulging their curiosities with explorations, games, and other means of entertainment. More and more life was created within the Fey Wilds, creatures of all kinds being blessed with life and permitted to roam about the endless paradise of Arvora’s realm.

Meanwhile, in the Pantheon of three, Vassas, Vikret, and Arvora had begun arguing amongst one another. Vassas and Vikret were concerned about the amount of creations Arvora was constantly granting life. They were of the strong opinion that life Arvora granted should only be temporary, but Arvora had become attached to all of the beautiful children she had set to roam free throughout the world, and did not want their lives to ever end. She knew that Vassas and Vikret would outnumber her, but her creations meant everything to her. To lose them, to watch them suffer.. such was a terrifying possibility that Arvora did not even want to consider. Her very essence and purpose was to create life, and what would be the meaning of her existence if all of her creations would one day come to perish? So she begged, pleaded, and cried in a desperate attempt to save the lives of her children.

Vassas and Vikret decided they were going to create another God, a fourth God, whose ultimate purpose would be to reap the souls of creations so mortally wounded, they were deemed dead. The body would be left behind to rejoin the cycle of life, nourishing the ground in decay, while the soul would be permitted to ‘live’ on in another realm, an afterlife, so that Arvora’s creations would not be truly lost.

Back in the Fey Wilds, death started to become more rampant, causing chaos to spread throughout the realm. As if reflecting the discontent within the pantheon, more bitter emotions began to present themselves within the Fey. From boredom to irritation, to envy and rage, these more negative emotions began to corrupt the minds of any Fey who were not as truly pure of heart as they could be. One by one, they began to turn away from the pantheon, marking the start of their downfall.

Corruption began to spread rampant throughout the realm, more and more Fey succumbing, becoming violent, greedy, and hateful. They began to fight amongst each other. With the corruption of the Fey and the creation of Morto and Foli, the inevitable fall of many Fey to Elves would soon occur. Only those few who remained truly loyal to the pantheon would remain as Fey.

Physical Description

Fey appear visually similar to elves, however are fairly shorter than they’re devolved cousins. Additionally, fey have longer ears than elves, though they tend to droop rather than point upwards. The most distinct feature of the fey, of course, are their insectoid wings. The most common wing types found in the feywilds vary from butterflies, dragonflies, and bees, however that’s not to say that there aren’t many more. The hair, skin, and clothing of a fey vary depending on the court, which are listed below.

Spring

Commonly in the spring court, Fey tend to wear airy dresses, flora crowns, suits of leafthin, however, neglect to wear shoes. Spring fey are commonly pale or lightly tanned and have eyes that match the blooming flowers.

Summer

In the summer court, Fey prefer to dress in thin hides and gear outfitted for hunting. These fey tend to be tanned or darker skinned with amber or green eyes.

Autumn

The autumn court is a bit colder than the summer court, yet warmer than the winter court, as such, fey dress in woolen clothing or warmer cloths. Autumn fey are most diverse in skintone, ranging from light to dark and generally sport brown or auburn hair with the occasional ginger undertones.

Winter

The most chilling of the courts, fey who live in the winter court wear thick furs and heavier clothing to compensate for the cold weather. Cloaks are also preferred to keep their wings from becoming too cold. Fey in the winter court are unsurprisingly pale, having lighter skintones and blue or violet eyes. They do, however, commonly have black or brown hair over any other color.

  • Common Height: 4'8" - 5’11"
  • Common Build: Ectomorph
  • Common Eyes: Violet, Green, Pink, Blue
  • Common Hair: Blonde, Auburn, Brown, Black
  • Common Skin Tone: Full Elven Spectrum

Culture

The fey wilds has for as long as it existed consisted of four courts all dividing into their own season. They are very much alike to the seasons how common mortals observe them. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each court is run by it’s own archfey, a powerful being that holds control over the ancient fey language gifted to them by Arvora herself. Each court is separated from each other but each season has it’s part to play in keeping the realm afloat.

Spring

The court of spring is a massive, magnanimous web of fey who all pay homage to the spring archfey, Oberon. The main court itself is located in a region known as the Halls of Prosperity, a mighty grove which encompasses every animal, race, insect and type of life all in a rather large area, surrounded by massive redwood trees which indicate its borders. Many travel from the alcoves and villages within its influence to pay homage to the archfey, so he may bless their newborns, crops, and adults wishing to start a family. His words are associated with the blessings he gives, and the spring court is by far the largest in its inherent population and abundance. As such, they live in many tightly knit villages that dot the countryside, where the homes are made of dried clay and leafthin, weaved to cover the rooftops and watertight to any downpours that may come to grace their crops during the wet season.

Summer

The court of summer is a sprawling garden of dense forests and massive trees that guard over its domain. Villages, few and far between, are made often inside of the trees themselves as shelter from the ground below, which is ripe full of game and dangerous hunting predators. Most of the culture within the court of summer is that of the hunt, and survival means blending in-and fighting back against those higher in the food chain. Within the main court, grand hunts are planned almost every quarta, as tradition has dictated to provide what the court needs when they run low on provisions from animals. The people here are far more primal, and some do not even speak languages, let alone read and write. All some know are the bow, and the arrow that fires forth from it, which is all they need to survive.

Autumn

Agalia's court within the wilds is nearly one massive plot of farmland. These contain every number of foodstuff and clothing products that are sent and traded through the other courts and beyond, as orchards grow the exotic fruits and veggies that cannot be found anywhere else. Every season the leaves fall and turn beautiful colors within the farming villages, making the countryside above appear as a miraculous spectrum of fall colors.

Winter

The court of winter is a large, vast plain of wasteland, consisting of snow, ice, permafrost... and more ice. Only at the very center of the wasteland lay a large town, centered with a massive castle of ice. There, the so-called "Winter Palace" rests, along with the small but elite court of the Archfey of winter. Deep within the recesses and thousands of underground halls, everything ranging from corpse piles to decadent pleasure chambers filled with exotic foods and spa's. Those deathly loyal to her are rewarded for their hard work in the lower levels of the corpse piles with a sept or two in the spa, which serves as both relaxation, and an extreme amount of magical recovery. Outside of the palace lies a rather prosperous trade city, which produces luxury goods to be used in the palace, or often exchanged for food with the other courts.

Mechanics

  • Lifespan: Unknown
  • Fey are naturally weaker than elves due to their brittle, lighter bones.
    • Refer to the strength and speed chart here for more information.
  • Fey possess full flight capabilities.
    • Refer to the strength and speed chart here for more information.
  • On birth, Fey posses an Inherited Spark.
  • Almost like second nature, Fey, even if not born in the Fey Wilds, will inherently understand three words in the true Fey language. All Fey can use minor trademark phrases from the following list;
    • Fairy Lights
    • Speak with Animals
  • Fairy Lights; Fey use the ancient fey word for “illuminate” to summon three small orbs of light within their hands.
    • The orbs give off no heat and have no actual mass, making them incapable of causing any harm.
    • Light given off by the orbs light up a 10 meter radius around them.
    • Fairy lights cannot be used individually as they cluster around each other naturally.
    • After 15 turns, the lights will fade away.
  • Speak with Animals; Fey use the ancient fey word for “communicate” to be able to speak to an animal within their line of sight.
    • The animal cannot speak back to the fey, meaning they cannot exchange information through verbal means, simply understanding them.
    • Animals do not have to respond to or acknowledge the fey as the word only allows them to understand them.
  • Additionally, Fey can use an extra word based on what season they’re descended from. Below are the phrases for Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter respectively. Fey cannot use a word that doesn't relate to their respective court.
    • Garden Growth
    • Fata Morgana
    • Autumn Winds
    • Hibernate
  • Garden Growth; Fey use the ancient fey word for “blossom” to manipulate flora that they are currently touching.
    • This word is single target and the Fey has to be making contact with said target.
    • Use of this word allows the Fey to grow or bud non-lore plants in the area they’re touching.
    • Fey can also revive dead flora using this word, no matter the rarity.
  • Fata Morgana; Fey use the ancient fey word for “phantasm” to create an illusion that is no larger than 2x2 meters.
    • The illusion can be discerned as a fake as it cannot make sound, emit smells, or interact with objects.
    • Illusions made are light based. Attempting to touch the illusion would result in the hand of the person touching to phase through.
    • Illusions last for 15 turns before fading away.
  • Autumn Winds; Fey use the ancient fey word for “gust” to cause a wind-based effect from the list below. This word has a 10 meter range.
    • Blow a light puff of air in any given direction.
    • Knock an object no heavier than 5 lbs (roughly 2kgs) over.
    • Or slam shut open windows and doors.
  • Hibernate; Fey use the ancient fey word for “comatose” to put themselves in a sleep-like state for 15 turns.
    • When in this state, the fey appears wholly and completely dead to all forms of investigation.
    • Creatures and people alike will not be able to tell whether or not the fey is actually dead.
    • Bleeding from wounds will slow down whilst the Fey slumbers, giving them double the amount of time to bleed out until the sleep wears off.
