Souls (Discipline)

The discipline of Souls encompasses the ability to manipulate souls, create and banish undead, and cure souls of curses when combined with healing.

Spell Effect: The caster creates a sharp pain in the soul of the target, interrupting concentration. This spell breaks all types of concentration.

Cast Time: 1 Turn

Spell Duration: Permanent, Until Dispelled

Range: 3 Meters, 20 Meters

Spell Effect: This spell can be casted on self or a consenting individual within 3 meters of the caster. The target is only able to see unvesseled souls within a 20 meter radius, their eyes becoming blind to anything that is not an unvesseled soul.

Range: 10 Meters

Spell Effect: This spell can be used on the caster or another target within 10 meters. The caster calls three spirits to the target's side. They surround the target and serve as protection against physical attacks. Each spirit is capable of blocking a single attack before it is dispelled. The spirits cannot protect against spells, however. When the spirits block an attack, the target staggers- thus making it impossible for them to deflect and cast at the same time. All spirits dissipate if a weapon which is effective against the ethereal is used.

Range: 15 Meters

Spell Effect: The caster is able to see and manipulate souls in a 15 meter radius. In order for a soul to be present, the body it came from must have died within a 24 OOC hour timeframe of this spell being casted. The caster may only manipulate one soul at a time, and souls move at a rate of 3 meters per turn.

Spell Effect: The caster temporarily weakens the tethers binding a soul to its vessel, rendering the target stunned and delirious for the duration of this spell.


Spell Name: Bind Soul

Range: 15 Meters

Spell Effect: The caster binds the soul of the target to the position they are in, rendering them rooted for the duration of this spell.

Range: 5 Meters

Spell Effect: The caster allows a consenting soul to speak through their body for a duration of 5 turns. When casting, this spell causes the caster’s eyes to gloss over with a milky film, rendering them vulnerable to their surroundings as they are temporarily possessed by the soul. The voice of the caster will sound like the voice of the person speaking through them. The soul speaking through the caster should be roleplayed by the roleplayer of the character. If not played by a player, the soul requires a DM to be roleplayed.

Range: 3 Meters, 20 Meters

Spell Effect: This spell can be casted on self or a consenting individual within 3 meters of the caster. The target is able to see all souls within a 20 meter radius, their eyes becoming blind to anything that is not a soul.


Spell Name: Incorporeal Self

Spell Effect: The caster turns incorporeal and is able to move through anything non-incorporeal interacting such as necrite at a rate of 6 meters per turn. The caster is near invisible in this state, being seen as a faint shimmer of a silhouette. While incorporeal, the caster cannot interact with anything physical or cast spells. The caster also cannot be harmed by anything physical unless it specifically interacts with incorporeal beings. If the caster is not careful and rematerializes themselves inside of a material, it will eject them with great force from the nearest open side they are close to and result in potential injury.

Spell Duration: Instant

Range: 5 Meters

Spell Effect: The caster focuses on an undead that has a soul, seeking to rip the soul out. This soul removal is a continuous and painful process felt by the target as it is occurring. The target must remain in range of this spell for all 3 turns of casting in order to have the soul removed. After 3 turns, the soul is forcefully separated from the undead. This spell can be used to destroy greater undead, but costs more mana to do so. This spell does not destroy bodies, it just removes the soul from the undead. They can be re-risen. Player character undead may roll a 1d20 to attempt to survive this, requiring a roll of 15 or higher to live.

Spell Name: Lesser Animation [Profane]

Concentration: High

Cast Time: 3 Turns

Spell Duration: Permanent or Until Dispelled

Range: Touch

Spell Effect: The caster re-animates a lifeless/once-alive medium. This spell can be used to return functionality to non-functional limbs or body parts, such as a dead arm or leg. This spell can also be used to create lesser undead, following the rules on the Undead page. All undead summoned by the caster need to be documented in the grimoire.

Spell Name: Greater Animation [Profane]

Disciplines: Souls

Concentration: High

Cast Time: 5 Turns

Spell Duration: Permanent or Until Dispelled

Range: Touch

Spell Effect: Using their knowledge of souls and power, the caster is able to offer animation to greater undead, and follows all obedience and existence rules in the Undead page. Creating greater undead requires a large catalyst, such as a glyphic circle or large orb. For player characters, it requires their OOC consent and an NSCA. All undead summoned by the caster need to be documented in their grimoire.

Spell Name: Catch Soul

Spell Duration: While Holding Soul

Range: 3 Meters

Spell Effect: This spell will allow the caster to house a soul in a container of their choosing, provided the soul is within 3 meters. The soul may be kept as long as it wishes, however, the container follows prison rules. This spell cannot be used to circumvent Ascended revival timers. Once the soul is freed from the container, this spell will need to be casted again to hold another soul.


Spell Name: Necromantic Resurrection [Profane]

Cast Time: 5 Turns

Spell Duration: Instant

Range: Touch

Spell Effect: This spell allows the caster to see souls until the revival is completed. The caster touches a bodiless soul and begins to manipulate it. They place the soul into a viable vessel and attach the soul’s tethers to it, reviving the soul into the vessel. This revival is imperfect and targets may revive with missing limbs, appendages, or even portions of their memory in extreme cases. The vessel used in this spell must be whole and appropriate for the type of soul being housed. (For example, people require people bodies, animals require animal bodies, etc.) The revived will retain their personality and free will upon revival and must roll for Morto’s Malady upon resurrection.
